Historical Re-use
The Kogura Company sought to update their unreinforced brick corner building, which had remained vacant for many years. As the oldest building in San Jose Japantown, the structure is eligible to be registered as a Historical Landmark.
Under strict preservation guidelines, great care was taken to protect the building’s character-defining features while bringing it up to current standards. These efforts ensure the space can gain new life as a commercial venue serving this unique community.
